Brainwashed by religion Reading the bible and going to church
Jesus didn’t establish a new religion called Christianity during his lifetime. Instead, he lived and died as a Jew . His teachings primarily targeted a Jewish audience, emphasizing reform within Judaism. After his crucifixion, the early followers of Jesus, both Jewish and Gentile, continued to follow his message.
Over time, this movement evolved into what we now recognize as Christianity, but it initially emerged as an offshoot of Judaism. So, while Christianity differs from Judaism in beliefs and practices, its roots remain firmly connected to the Jewish tradition
The 'dependency inducing practices', sometimes called 'brainwashing', that are commonly alleged to occur in deviant “religious” groups such as a cult movements or new religious movements are not well understood and have promoted considerable debate.
What Religion Did Jesus Preach and Teach?
Jesus, a revered religious leader in Christianity, did not specifically teach a new religion. Instead, He focused on profound teachings and urged people to transform their lives. His ministry involved traveling around the Middle East, speaking in synagogues, homes, and open-air settings .
As a rabbi, Jesus taught about the kingdom of God, ethics, and a new covenant, emphasizing that God would write His laws onto the hearts and minds of His Jewish people . Rather than founding a new religion, Jesus fostered relationships and inspired belief in Him, which eventually led to the emergence of Christianity
But what religion did Jesus preach and teach? Jesus’ teachings, as recorded in the Gospels, reflect a deep understanding and interpretation of Jewish Law and the Prophets. He often quoted from the Torah, the Prophets, and the Writings, grounding his teachings in Jewish scripture. Yet, his interpretations often challenged the religious status quo.
Jesus Christ preached repentance, love for God, and love for neighbor. He emphasized the spirit of the Law over the letter, often clashing with the Pharisees, who were strict adherents to the Law. He also preached about the Kingdom of God, deeply rooted in Jewish eschatological expectations.
However, Jesus’ teachings transcended the boundaries of traditional Judaism. He welcomed sinners and tax collectors, broke Sabbath laws "meaning that He did good deeds on that day according to the bible", and claimed to forgive sins, actions that went against conventional Jewish religious norms.
Therefore, while Jesus preached based on Jewish scriptures, his teachings introduced a new way of understanding and living out these scriptures.
Is all religion a form of brainwashing and power?
God defines true religion this way: “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world” (James 1:27).
In other words, the system of worshiping God is not a matter of observing rites and rituals; rather, it involves practical help for those in need and living a pure life, separated from the sin of the world.
However, many religions do have a form of brainwashing without even realizing it . If you repeatedly hear something that is false, you will eventually begin to believe it is true . In psychology, it is called the illusory truth effect. You hear something repeated so often that your brain associates that statement with the truth .
Here’s the kicker…most people have no clue that it is happening or has happened to them!
For example, when I was of another denomination, I constantly heard these statements: God loves you. Jesus died for our sins. When you die, you’ll go to Heaven.
Much of what we consider to be religion—church on Sabbath day, reciting a prayer, lighting a candle, etc.—are human traditions that give the appearance of devotion but ultimately have little to do with the soul of the participant. In fact, in 2 Timothy 3:1–5, we are warned that people can have “a form of godliness” without their religious activity making any meaningful difference in their lives.
Despite their external ceremonies, they remain unloving, unthankful, uncontrolled, and unrepentant. The scriptural instruction is “Have nothing to do with such people.” Jesus described those who were undoubtedly religious in Matthew 7:21–22, yet His final word to them is, “I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!” (verse 23).
Those statements were repeated so often, especially when growing up, that they became the truth for me. It was not until I turned 30 and started asking some serious questions about the world and universe, that I broke out of that brainwashed state. Over time, and after I got past the stage of feeling like I was blasphemous or a heretic, I transitioned into a nonbrainwashed person. My beliefs are not based on philosophy and science, not any more , but on the holy book.
As James 1:27 says, true religion in God’s eyes makes a difference in who we are and what we do. It is religion based on relationship: Jesus said, “If you love me, keep my commands” (John 14:15). Obedience is the proof of love. We love God because He loved us first (1 John 4:19), and our love leads us to action; it is the fulfillment of the law (Romans 13:10).
This religion of relationship is not based on what we do for God; it is based on what He has done for us. We are not trusting in our performance but in a Person—Jesus Christ.
The word religion is used in many contexts, but there is a difference between false religion and true . Similarly, there is a difference between religion to look religious and religion to cultivate a deeper relationship with Christ.
As to power, yes, religions hold a lot of power. If you can control the hearts and minds of people, you can force them to do or believe things that otherwise, make no sense.
Yes and that's why there are different religions that fought among themselves.
Mind control is linked to everyone's life, be it personal, internal or external and it's the best free tool that one can use for a better life or be used by others to ruin you. Both politics and religion use it.
Another type of religion relies on tradition, ceremony, and rule-keeping to curry favor with God. The scribes and Pharisees in the Bible are examples of this form of religion. Jesus said, “They like to walk around in flowing robes and love to be greeted with respect in the marketplaces and have the most important seats in the synagogues and the places of honor at banquets.
They devour widows’ houses and for a show make lengthy prayers. These men will be punished most severely” (Luke 20:46–47). Their religion was outward and heavily influenced by their traditions. Rather than aid the widows as James 1:27 commands, the Pharisees robbed them. Like beautiful tombs, they only appeared clean and pure, but inside they were corrupt (Matthew 23:27).
One must understand how emotions are created from the 6 sense doors and people can react to it. I think the Buddha gave the best teachings on intellectual mind and the emotional mind . Religion if propagated with deception is brain-washing and with threat, it is brain killing and with violence it is a crime. Whatever credibility the religion might have had it's completely lost.
But people who do this will not listen due to ego, money that forth comes to them along with this and people who listens to them either because they get a few morsels or because they have no regard for their elders who evolved their tradition, are stupids.
One type of religion is comprised of that “which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ” (Colossians 2:8). This type of religion is based on false gods and worldly philosophy. Throughout history, various religions have venerated idols and glorified the creature over the Creator.
The craftsman takes wood and “works with chisel and plane and carves it into a human figure. He gives it human beauty and puts it in a little shrine” (Isaiah 44:13, NLT). Seeing the work of his own hands, “he bows down to it and worships” (verse 17). The idol worshiper and all who follow false religion are destined for disappointment: “A deluded heart misleads him; he cannot save himself” (verse 20).
No brainwashing can account for a relationship between two living beings, in this case between God and man, and so brainwashing is irrelevant to the Christian faith. Brainwashing is by implication and by definition a scheme of a liar, while a relationship is simply an active, dynamic connection between living things.
The relationship between God and man is self-evident to both involved as with any other relationship. Therefore, brainwashing and the relationship between God and man have nothing to do with each other, and the Christian faith is in no significant way a party within this kind of discussion.
The substance of faith, relationship to God, is the fruit of the cross of Jesus Christ. Brainwashing can neither cause this to happen nor remove it from being. No one is brainwashing anyone who suggests that forgiveness of sin may be obtained through faith and trust in the redemptive work of the cross and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Through this faith and trust, forgiveness of sin is available to all men and thus a right relationship with God may be achieved and/or obtained freely and by choice. The key here is “by choice”. Thus the relationship is achieved via a choice, and growth thereafter via the same means.
The Bible says that, while right relationship to God through faith is available for everyone, reality shows that most cling almost inhumanly intensely to their own personal will. So, the hell of isolation from God isn’t God’s choice, it’s the choice of those rejecting life in the presence of God, the life God has for them.
If you have never experienced forgiveness of sin and if the faith of God draws you, repent of your sins, receive Jesus Christ, and follow Him.
You will receive eternal life if you do, an irrevocable gift of God (God the Father of the Lord Jesus Christ), and you will live in God’s presence forever, just like everyone else who ever received God’s forgiveness through Christ.
All in all, even Christianity, through the Bible, will acknowledge that the worldly designation of religion placed on the Christian faith is at least in one sense justified…but only in one sense. This is that true religion for the Christian is to be considered, “caring for the widows and the orphans”. God has given we Christians the license to explain our faith as in these two ways religion.
So, perhaps encouraging others to look after the widows and orphans is to some brainwashing. Well, that is all there is to the Christian religion, so if that’s all there is to brainwashing arguments against Christianity, I can live with the claim, being no good work goes unrewarded, and, certainly, looking after the widows and orphans would be considered a good work, as well as a great source of joy…
I think those who would try to convince people there is no Jesus Christ are the ones who are brainwashed - by the demonic entities that have been judged by Him. Don't you think some brains ougtha be washed?
If you don't agree, please buy a newspaper and check the headlines. Jesus offered to wash not just our brains, but our hearts and spirits as well. He will do just that for anyone sick and tired of their own limited thoughts. See John 13.
Religion is a system of control used to play on peoples subconscious mind state. When you come into this world you were not born with any religious text attacted to you. Many churches pastors and other religious groups use scare tactics to get you to give in and give up your conscious mind state.
Making you a walking zombie. Light comes from darkness not the other way around. They have you backwards. Why is it when u go to a church they don't present any facts they just said believe or God said. But they don't present you with any math, science, or historical facts to support what they are telling you.
Much of these names and religions were made up by man. We gave the elements of the universe human like attributes even more so making them human giving them names and birthdays times and seasons . All of this was just a way to study and relate to the universal mind as a whole. People do your own field research because there is a answer for everything. Peace and love to all.
