Facing Your Goliath. And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants; and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight – Numbers 13:33. Whether we are a believer or non-believer each of us will have a test or trial that comes in our life that will appear as a giant, but we must remember no matter how big the giant or the trial may be, we serve a God that is larger than any giant trial or test that will come in our lives. The children of Israel had been enslaved in Egypt for four hundred years prior to their release from the Egyptians. Rather than leading them the way of the Philistines which would have been closer for them to reach the Promised Land of Canaan God led them through the wilderness of the Red Sea because God knew if they would have seen a war they would change their minds and returned to Egypt. After their release from the bondage they were in the wilderness of Shur and were there three days and found no water, they ...

We should take steps to ensure that we aren't clipping our own wings. The Bible says, “They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings as eagles. They shall run and not be weary. They shall walk and shall not faint.” I often find myself falling into internet rabbit holes when I begin researching topics that interest me. While I could begin by searching for something such as what foods are good for me to snack on, I could end up reading through a blog post about the news of today and disasters around the world. Does it make sense? No. Do I find myself falling into these internet rabbit holes during the hours I should be sleeping? Yes. Recently, I was mindlessly searching the internet when I ended up reading about clipping bird wings. I love all animals, including birds. Though I’ve never had an indoor bird, only chickens and a turkey when I was in the West Indies. I don’t think I could personally have a pet indoor bird, but I love to watch v...

Worship and Confession - The worship of God. Worship and confession go hand and hand together (Nehemiah 9:3; Psalm 15:1-5; Romans 14:11). We can’t approach God without confessing our sins. Confession allows us to live in the amazing grace of God found in the forgiveness granted to us through the work of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (Revelation 5:9-10; Philippians 2:9-11). As we enter into the presence of God, He will show us our unconfessed sin and give us the confidence to confess (Isaiah 6:5-6). What is Worship? True Christian worship is to both honor and obey God, to be extravagantly loving (Psalm 86:9; Psalm 95:6), and to have extreme submission (1 Samuel 15:22; John 4:23; Romans 12:1) to his Word and Will. Worship is offering our lives as an act of respect and love to God. It is a willingness to exalt God and yield to His Will (Psalm 145). We can never comprehend all that God is, but the more we worship Him and the more we love to worship Him with every breath, He reveal...

Hold on to the word of God it is life Changing. What does the Bible say about holding on to the word of God? The scripture tells us that they who wait upon the Lord will find their wait worthwhile. Isaiah 40:31: “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” What does it mean to hold firmly to the word of life? The “word of life” is both the good news of the gospel of what God has done for sinners in Jesus Christ as well as the word of revelation found in Scripture that explains what that gospel is. It is the word of “life” because it is there that we find truth regarding where life may be found, namely, in Christ. Psalms 69:6 Let not those who wait for You, O Lord God of hosts, be ashamed because of me; Let not those who seek You be confounded because of me, O God of Israel. Do you like to wait for something? I certainly don’t. When someone else causes ...

The Spirit and peace of God. What is the Spirit of peace? Peace is knowing that the Lord of the universe is by your side and resting in that. It's not just knowing, but it is also living it out. Peace is sitting in comfort and knowing that God is next to your side no matter what. Where the Spirit of the Lord is there is peace verse? Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. There are certain practices we can partake in and theology to behold as we're getting to know God's voice to discover your understanding of the Holy Spirit in everyday life! “And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” “And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And b...

How is Christ lamb and lion? - Christ. The symbol is used in both Christianity and Judaism to represent the Messianic Age. In addition, in Christianity, according to a sermon by Augustine, the lion stands for Christ resurrected, the lamb for Christ's sacrifice ("He endured death as a lamb; he devoured it as a lion."—Augustine, Sermon 375A). What does the Bible say about Jesus being the lion and the lamb? By identifying Jesus as both “the Lion of the Tribe of Judah” and “the Lamb who was slain,” Revelation directs our attention back to earlier scripture and establishes his identity firmly in the Old Testament prophecies. Why is this important? It demonstrates God's consistent faithfulness to us One of the most fascinating attributes of God is His omnipotence; meaning that He possesses all power. At the same time we read in Scripture that He is merciful and compassionate. When we can begin to understand that the God who possesses all power is the same God who is infin...
