If all of the dead were to go to heaven would there be a resurrection. The Old Testament and Jesus Christ teach us that the spirit of dead people do go to heaven or hell and their physical bodies are resurrected in the future. Lazarus Yes, Lazarus died according to Jesus (John 11:14). Later in John 11:23, Jesus said that Lazarus would rise, which He did (John 11:43-44). What happens to the dead and the living after the resurrection? Then after the resurrection of the body the dead and the living will be judged. In Revelation Ch 20 and 21 we see these temporary places are renovated for final residence. Hell is thrown into the 'lake of fire' as the final judgement of the wicked and a new heaven and a new earth are created for the children of God. If We Go to Heaven When We Die, What Is the Point of Our Resurrection? If we are waiting for that resurrection, if the dead in Christ will rise first, how come we say when someone has died, they have gone to be with the Lord? Well, we ...

King James Bible : Matthew 15:8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. Our worship of idols on the hills and our religious orgies on the mountains are a delusion.Only in the LORD our God will Israel ever find salvation : Jeremiah 3:23. Is honouring God with the lips vain worship? The ancient Israelites rubbed up against the Canaanites and their fertility religion. Part of this religion involved sexual rites on mountains and hilltops, often under sacred trees. Many of the Israelites, including national leaders, were drawn into Canaanite worship. Honouring God with the lips is vain worship. Mark 7:6 also records this prophecy of Isaiah, which Jesus quoted. From the words of Jesus, we see that He rebuked those who claimed to be worshipping God but not from the hearts. Their hearts were far away from God but they honoured Him only with their mouths. Jeremiah 3 features God’s rebuke of his faithless people, ...

Is there activity of demonic spirits in the world today? Are ghosts real? I am sure this is not the first time that question has been posed to you and it doesn’t help that the answer is often subjective. I personally have remained undecided. I have had paranormal experiences; experiences that despite my logical approach to problems I have not been able to explain. But what if I push it a step further? Are ghosts real according to the Bible? The Bible has many things to say about the afterlife. Questions about ghosts and ghouls are on our minds, and I love to ask these kinds of questions. Furthermore I am not the first Christian to ask this question. In the gospel of Luke chapter 24, one of the disciples saw Jesus walking on water and the passage reads: “While Jesus’ disciples were talking about what had happened, Jesus appeared and greeted them. They were frightened and terrified because they thought they were seeing a ghost.” So if Jesus’ disciples get to ask this question, I fe...

Do you know if you’re Hell-bound? Or will you be totally surprised?. 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 ESV Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. "Who will go to hell?" Hell has become a controversial subject in recent years, even among Christians. However, the controversy is entirely man-made. The rejection of the reality of hell stems from a human inability to reconcile the love of God with eternal punishment or from an outright rejection of God’s Word. Even some professing Christians have come to unbiblical conclusions. Some have tried to redefine hell, create an intermediate ...

Revelation chapter 20 :14 - Final judgment, and final victory of the end times Revelation chapter 20 represents the final lesson, final judgment, and final victory of the end times. Satan is bound, but not destroyed, and released after a thousand years of peace and righteousness. Proving that no evidence or reason to believe in and follow Jesus is enough for those determined to rebel, some follow Satan and are destroyed in a rebellion. Those who died without faith in Christ, through all of history, are resurrected to face the great white throne judgment. There, they are sentenced for sin and consigned eternally to the lake of fire. What's described in verses 14 and 15 is nothing less than the final, complete accomplishment of total victory over sin. The judgment is complete. Now Death and Hades are cast into the lake of fire. Unbelievers spend their lives following the will of the Devil. Ephesians 2:1–3 reminds Christians that prior to salvation they were dead in trespasses and s...

The state of the dead. In the early imminent expectation, the period between death and the coming of the kingdom still constituted no object of concern. An expectation that one enters into bliss or perdition immediately after death is also found in the words of Jesus on the cross: “Today you will be with me in Paradise” (Luke 23:43). What is the place of the dead in the Bible? Sheol . In the Hebrew Bible is a place of still darkness which lies after death. Although not well defined in the Tanakh, Sheol in this view was a subterranean underworld where the souls of the dead went after the body died. What happens to soul after death? When we die, our spirit and body separate. Even though our body dies, our spirit—which is the essence of who we are—lives on. Our spirit goes to the spirit world. The spirit world is a waiting period until we receive the gift of resurrection, when our spirits will reunite with our bodies. Is Purgatory in the Bible? Roman Catholic Christians who believe ...

Famine the Grey horse in the bible. What does famine represent in the Bible? Revelation 6:8 -BBE 8 And I saw a grey horse, and the name of him who was seated on it was Death; and Hell came after him. And there was given to them authority over the fourth part of the earth, to put to destruction by the sword, and by taking away their food, and by death, and by the beasts of the earth. The authors of the Hebrew Bible used famine as a mechanism of divine wrath and destruction – but also as a storytelling device, a way to move the narrative forward. Does Death's horse have a name? The fourth and final Horseman is named Death. Known as (Thanatos), of all the riders, he is the only one to whom the text itself explicitly gives a name. Quoting Revelation 6. “ And when I looked and behold a pale horse: and His name that sat on Him was Death and Hell followed him. Here we see that Death and Hell are personified. These two riders are named because they are recognizable by man. The word Death...

What the Broken Mirror Reveals. There are few of us who have made it through life without ever breaking a mirror, but most have never thought long about what the broken mirror reveals. Beyond the superstition about getting seven years of bad luck when you break a mirror, how much have you reflected on what it can show us about ourselves? We are called to reflect God’s light to the world, but what happens when the broken mirror is us? And we are all broken. The Broken Mirror. “It wasn’t my fault” came instantly from our mouths the moment it happened, adults within earshot could not mistake the sound of broken glass. There was no hiding it, we broke the bathroom mirror, pieces of glass were everywhere! Some of the fragments were reflective side up, others face down with their black coated side showing. It could not be fixed, well not in a way it could serve the same purpose. This was my experience of breaking a mirror, your story may be similar or starkly different, but still the b...
