Who is the tree of life?

The tree of life is Jesus Christ, who grants us immortality, light, and righteousness by His death and resurrection . He is the Author and Originator of life, and we can receive His life by eating and drinking Him . To eat of the tree of life is to follow Christ by bearing our cross and repenting of our sins.

In the Bible, the tree of life is mentioned in the book of Genesis and Revelation. It is a life-giving tree created to enhance and perpetually sustain the physical life of humanity. The tree was planted by God in the Garden of Eden .

Through His teachings and life example, He offers guidance and comfort as we seek to follow in His footsteps.

Jesus is also like a Tree of Life in that He gives us meaning and fulfillment; our relationship with Him should be refreshing and satisfying.

Indeed, Jesus is life itself – without Him there would be no hope for redemption or salvation from sin.

The Tree of Life first appears in Genesis 2:9 where God places it in the Garden of Eden.

The most relevant verses about Jesus being the Tree of Life are Revelation 2:7 and 22:2-19, where the tree of life represents restored access to eternal life through Jesus Christ.

He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.

From there, we see it several more times throughout Scripture including Revelation which says

On either side of the river was the tree of life with its twelve kinds of fruit, producing its fruit each month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.

“Revelation 22:2”

Those who have been washed in his blood are given permission by God to eat from this tree (Revelation 22:14). Those who remain disobedient will be denied access to it (22:15).

The concept also appears in Proverbs 3:13-18 where wisdom is compared with an oak tree that provides protection for those under its branches.

The Tree of Life has a connection to salvation because it represents the life-giving presence of God and access to the tree was cut off in Genesis 3:24 when God stationed mighty cherubim and a flaming sword to block the way to it. However, Jesus Christ, “the second Adam” (1 Corinthians 15:44–49), restored access to the tree by dying on the cross for all humanity.

For God is creator of all . and all is created by Him and for Him , but that still does not mean that all is for Him .
