Following God or Religion ?
Yes, God has nothing to do with religion. Religion is a human construct devised to entrap & manipulate other human beings into self imprisonment by taking advantage of indoctrinated fear & self-loathing using shame to keep the peoples coming back each Sabbath & dropping money in the collection plate seeking some kind of relief from their self-induced guilt that the Preist class/Pastor/Preacher/Minister subtly fostering these guilt trips in the congregation to keep the money & power flowing in.
YES! Most definitely you can believe in God without religion. When you stop to realize more blood has been spilt over religion than any other issue, it makes you wonder what is really going on. With Christianity in particular, it was “formalized” using savagery and murder to force people to accept a “singular set” of beliefs and practices. That was followed up later in the church’s history with the Christians attempting genocide on the Arabs during the Crusades. I don’t think either of these was in concert with what Christ had in mind and certainly not the message God hoped would be delivered.
Religion has been a principal vehicle to manipulate and control people using guilt and fear. This is contrary to the message God has tried to send to the people through numerous examples all over the world (like Christ , etc.) that love is the most important essence to embody. Does it make sense that there is only one God and so many people saying, “my way is the ONLY way?” Is it so surprising that so many people feel disillusioned by religion and really isolated from God, to the point that they try to completely give up spiritual practice and exercise?
I washed my hands of religion. At times I was estranged from God. But our spiritual nature, the callings of our soul, keeps poking us with questions. And our true separation from God is brief and only exists because we sometimes “build walls” in order to turn our back on the truth…at our most basic level we are spiritual…that is our true nature… and on that level we can “experience” God to be real and reaching out to each of us in recognition that we are all unique…and on unique journeys aimed at ever elevating love of self, of God, and of others.
We do NOT have to have intermediaries who dictate what path we take. There are infinite paths. And your path is unique to you and your unique relationship with God. God gives you “free will” to discover your true spiritual nature, connect through the pervading energies of unconditional love, and carry the message of this experience as a “light” to the world.
It's simply that when some follow a religion, not the god, they start digging up the variations in the people. They judge people on their beliefs and everything related to them.
When they believe in religion rather than god, most people never have any hope or trust in their life.
Believing in religion brings out grudges in people and doubts their faith in god.
Believing in god is something magical and divine, like you trusting your journey even if it's complicated. God never said to compare people and their cultures. If someone judges people based on their culture and beliefs, that person is religious.
So being religious and being spiritual is entirely different. One that follows religion is never understood the god. One that believes in GOD never gets busy judging or describing beliefs/religion.
Yes! you most certainly do have to believe in a god, You do not need to follow any religion. More and more people in the developed world do not believe in gods nor follow religion and this number will increase.
God doesn’t want us to follow any religion. He wants us to follow Jesus Christ! All religions require that you do something in order to get into the Kingdom of God. However, in Christianity everything that’s required to enter the Kingdom has already been done for us, by Jesus Christ. When Jesus was on the cross, He took our sin and our punishment for sin. He paid everything we owed, so that we could enter the Kingdom of God, not by our good works, but by grace through faith.
By God’s grace He calls you, and He regenerates you, then He gives you the faith you need to believe in Jesus and all He did on the cross. You ask for forgiveness and turn from your sins, as you enter a saving relationship with Jesus Christ. Christianity is not a religion, it’s a relationship. So, God doesn’t want you to follow a religion, He wants to save and deliver you from religion.
Jesus’s teachings in the 4 gospels.
Try comparing any religion, any philosophy or any ‘truth’ against His teachings there, and you’ll discover that the teachings of Jesus are beyond anything else.
Following a religion is kind of doing some agreed human standards especially nowadays, all the religious circles including the various church congregations follow their own set of rules that often make no sense nor have any basis in scripture whatsoever.
By obeying what Jesus taught, you will be following Jesus, God.
