The Genuine Christian,
Living Honestly with God - BEING GENUINE WITH GOD.

The word genuineness is defined as: something authentic, proper, characteristic, legitimate, something special. I think we would all like to define our relationships in general with that word; personally, I would like to define everything I do with that word, but without a doubt it is difficult or at least that is how we see it in our minds.

Many times, I have thought that something genuine is also almost perfect, with few errors, with few struggles, that it is something harmonious—but it is not always like that.

Another word that is very similar to being genuine is to be real, not something pretended, something without filters.

That is what God seeks in us, we being real with Him. God understands that we can never be perfect, that is why many times He has dedicated Himself to creating systems where His presence can be among us in an authentic way. For example, in these times we can carry the Holy Spirit when we accept and follow Jesus and the Scriptures, God cared for Jesus to die and thus make a way to heaven and reconcile us with the Father. Now anyone can bear His presence, obtain His guidance and His light. This is great, we are a part of Him!

Not only do we carry His Spirit, but in the great act of love on the cross, Jesus made us look innocent when we were guilty of everything, God gives us the confidence to reach Him tired: (“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls” in Matthew 11:28-29, NIV), broken, wounded (He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds” in Psalm 147:3, NIV), guilty, corrupted (We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are. For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, in His grace, freely makes us right in His sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when He freed us from the penalty for our sins” in Romans 3:22-24 NLT), in our worst human states, of our heart and soul, but He says that if we come to Him being real, genuine, longing for Him really, even though our world is falling, He makes a path, He can take us and change us for the better if we dispose ourselves, He is there waiting with open arms for everything, absolutely EVERYTHING that we needed.

God loves genuineness. He is genuine and besides perfect, but we can’t and He understands it completely. That is why He wants a genuine relationship with us—not perfect—GENUINE, real, without acting. He is there to listen to our feelings, our thoughts, our struggles.

He is willing to be with us in the worst and best moments, because He not only longs for a relationship with us, but He longs for us—that is the main reason for everything.

God is our Father, but He is also a friend whom we can count on. We don’t need any more demonstrations to trust Him with everything that He has already shown us. If there is something that is interfering with our relationship with Him, let’s give it up to Him, without shame. I think that He deserves at least recognition, gratitude and genuine love from us.

Let us go to Him not out of fear of condemnation, nor out of duty, nor out of routine, nor out of religiosity, let us go to Him by longing and for who He is, our only genuine and perfect love.
